Dear Ven. Vicittasara,
It is a pleasure to announce that the Central University of Tibetan Studies, Sarnath, Varanasi is going to organize an International Conference on “Vinaya” from 17-19 January, 2011. The monk scholars from all the existing three traditions of the Vinaya viz., Theravada, M¨lasaråstivåda and Dharmaguptika will participate the conference and deliberate on various areas of Vinaya. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has kindly consented to grace the occasion and inaugurate the conference.
On behalf of the University, the organizing committee, would like to invite you to this conference and request you kindly make a presentation on "Varshavaasa & Nivarana" which will be followed by discussion. The concept note is enclosed herewith.
We are looking forward to this conference, which is, perhaps, the first time in modern era where the Sangha members belonging to all the three Vinaya traditions will gather and deliberate on the living traditions based on the Vinaya texts which have slight differences in their traditional versions.
We also request you kindly send your paper latest by 15th December 2010 so that the papers can be made ready for the participants on time.
We shall be grateful if you could send your consent as soon as possible . The University will be happy to bear the travel expenses (Air: economy class) and the local hospitality.
